Love beyond Love
For as the sun is daily new and old, So is my love still telling what is told.- Sonnet 76 Shakespeare
Through the mirror, Emily was looked stunning and elegant, she was trying on the sleek matte satin and tulle bridal gown for photo shooting. The princess silhouette and the jewel neckline impeccably matched with her body contour, she stepped and swirled, was like a beautiful ballerina.
I hide behind her chapel-length train like a flower boy. While I was ruffling with it, Emily smiled and waved to me. She asked me to choose the style of the veil. She said a bride would care less for the veil as it was only for the groom's pride.
There was a vast selection of veils, blucher, chapel, flyaway, mantilla......, I chose the waltz one for its lovely swing right from her top. Her crown was a wreath headpiece in a full circle of flowers, twigs and foliage.
As for my feeling at the moment, it was as if my first time into the fantasyland of Disneyworld, thrilling and unbelievable! In reality, our own story has been something akin to a roller coaster ride..........
"Who ever loved that loved not at first sight?"
 Today, the glitzy Cheung Kong Centre is a landmark in the city's skyline, but two years ago, while still in its constructing phase, a fire broke out from the scaffolding, it not only fired up chaos and mayhem to our already tight working schedule, but also nearly engulfed my long-held relationship with Emily.
Out project team worked tirelessly and nightmarishly to sort out the mess of the aftermath, we had enormous energy and zeal for this daring project. However, on our relationship, it was a totally different story. I only wished we could also have the blessing of fire, to bring out reincarnation from destruction. We were like a car that had gone astray in the desert and the fuel meter was pointing at dangerous zone........
"The course of true love never did run smooth."
 At 3 a.m. in the bar in Hart Avenue, I was still drinking, the musical jukebox was finally running out of patronage and there was a dead silence inside. Friends were already gone and bagged home with full loads of my groans. The table was full of empty bottles and glasses. The waiter had learned wise not to come close and left me alone in the dark corner lest I should order for more drinks.
The rain outside was getting heavier and heavier, as seen from those dripping waters on the window panel. Then there was a misty haze covering the window glass and all the images of the street were blurred.
Suddenly a dark figure was flashing past the window and stopped at the corner of the wall. He was an unlucky man without taking his umbrella. He hopped on each cover and moved slowly to find his way home.
Why he was afraid of getting wet? Was it a rule for being dry and clean? How many rules were already governing our miserable life? Were we lived by other's tradition and lost individual's character and passion in life?
I decided to break the old rule and take things in my own hand. I went out freely into the rain, opened my arms and mouth to give a full blown reception to the rainwater, there was a refreshing coolness and an unspeakable relief throughout my body and deep in my heart, a feeling was rekindled and had overtaken me. I started to run towards........
"Love is not love that alters when it alteration finds "
 I looked at Vincent from the mirror, he was such a fine young man - smart and handsome ! In his world, there were always joys and sunshine. Over the years, I was only grateful to him.
" Give me that man
That is not passion's slave, and I will wear him.
In my heart's core, ay, in my heart of heart
As I do thee."
 There was a time that we shared an intense moment, not that we lose the love of each other, but, the marvelous glamour we used to have in our life was seemed fading. We could sit together for hours but talked only a few almost meaningless words. There was something wrong, but no one dared to speak it out. We were both afraid of the veils that were ripping between us. We were close in distance but were miles apart in the deep of ourselves.
"Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love"
 I saw him from my window, he was down in the street, braced with the rainwater, running towards my direction, like the glow of a flame. His body movement was full of vigor and sensuality. The quicker and quicker he was coming, the faster and faster was my heart beat, and the closer and the closer was the distance between us. We were far apart but I felt we were now close in our hearts. I couldn't wait, I started racing towards his direction ......
"The heavens forbid
But that our loves and comforts should increase
Even as our days do grow."
