The Love Story - Incredible for the Miserable Two
|
The first sun ray was about to beam across the horizon. A pair of young lovers, braced with the early-morning chill, quietly sat on the Shek O Beach. The hope for the meteor shower was fading in this last minute of the night, they turned their attention on the small flame of the candle flaring in the wind.......

At 5:30, he was woken up by the alarm . He got up quickly, tiptoed into the kitchen and prepared for the breakfast. She, still in bed, was deep in thought on how last night's small row between them could possibly get out of hand. By the time she reprimanding herself for the bad temper, she was reminded that she was running late if she was not up now.
She was delighted to see that her breakfast of two eggs with toast was already beautifully laid out in a plate on the table, more delighted to her, he appeared oblivious to last night 's nasty incidence.
He looked at her face carefully and was surprised at the miraculous effect of the skin care lotion. Last night her face was covered in a thick mud of "sea dregs" but in less than eight hours it could become so silky. He only wished his fate could be that.
The young lovers on the beach were gazing at the glowing candle flame, how this tiny flame was surviving on the blowing wind, it was not doused by it, glimmering, but in fitting moments it would rekindle and glow......
After breakfast, she set off for work. She was a teacher in a new school in Tin Shui Wai, the farthest area you could possibly get in SAR. The list of things about this area that got on her nerve was already long but showed no signs of abating, for example, it was the most unfashionable area on earth where the most popular restaurant here was the Cafe De Coral and the local people tended to wear the same kind of drab overcoats from Giordano these days when there was a big sale.
Worse still, the local people were a bunch of liars, they bluffed to you how convenient it was by transportation from this area to the city centre - a vain effort to disguise their sorrow for the price taps on their properties, which hardly went over $2,000 p.s.f.
She turned her attention to him, what had gone wrong with him, was he having too much of his own intuitions and not able to learn wise to get round with it in order to stay on with his new job or was just simply plagued by bad lucks? She supposed it was him that got her into this predicament and over the year her choice of the job was getting less. Like it or not, she had to cling on this stable teaching post, and most important, this man - because her life was deeply blurred with his.
The young lovers on the beach were now lighting up the candles one by one and lining them up in the sand. It was the wonderful shines of these small candles that "cursed" the darkness before the dawn.........
After she left, there were still couple of hours away before his only assignment of the day - an appointment with an IT man of one startup, whose business profile was not known. He was not bothered to find out because it was this myth behind that captured people's imagination in the current IT fever and sent the price of these stocks skyhigh. He thought he could be the last person in this world that still remained conscious, due to his previous unpleasant experience in this industry.
He decided not to retire to his bed, instead, go through the notes of the Sales Goods Act for the Law of Contract, a part-time course he took up last year. During the reading, he was wondered if the directors of Tom.com had ever read this Act and understood the due responsibilities they had for the customers.
He turned his attention to her. He worried about her increasing workloads and the grueling demands on teachers since the new education reform policy. Her health was not as good as in the past, just shown by her recent bad cough. He felt sick for not giving the help she badly needed. He vowed he had to cling on every new opportunity, and most important, this woman - because his life was deeply blurred with her.
The sun was now high up on the beach, beautiful and glittering, while the young lovers were walking, hand in hand, to a small chapel across the sunshine boulevard......
